Unifying Fragmented Health Data Under Strict Canadian Compliance
A Canadian digital-health company needed to merge clinical EMR records and consumer wearable data into a single, trusted intelligence layer — while meeting Canada's strict privacy laws (PHIPA, PIPEDA) and HIPAA. The data was fragmented across vendors, formats, and identities, and a single error could expose the wrong patient's records. They needed a platform that was secure, scalable, and compliant from day one.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
✔ Ingest data from multiple EMRs (Accuro
✔ OSCAR) and wearables (Fitbit
✔ Oura) without rebuilding integrations each time
Standardize vendor-specific formats into one clean
✔ canonical data model
Resolve every data point to a single
✔ reliable patient identity
Enforce strict multi-tenant isolation so no clinic's data touches another's
Embed encryption
✔ governance
✔ and audit trails as a foundation — not an afterthought

A Secure, Azure-Native Healthcare Data Platform Engineered End to End
Rannlab designed and built a private-by-default platform on Microsoft Azure, with the only public surface being the patient-facing app protected by Azure Front Door + WAF. A proprietary Data Connector automates secure ingestion from EMRs and wearables. All data flows through a Bronze → Silver → Gold Medallion Lakehouse, refining raw payloads into analytics-ready intelligence. A hub-and-spoke Master Data Management model ties every record to one Master User ID, while a Site ID isolation boundary guarantees each organization's data stays fully separate across storage, processing, and application layers.
